Greetings fellow mercenaries!

With a new update on the way to be released on Steam by the end of this week (and to be called v0.5, but only after we gave a lot of thought to v0.41aPRO), let’s go on a full recap of NIGHTSTAR: Rogue Wings! First, let’s see what was new for the v0.41a update, shall we?

Controllers

Yup, they’ve been polished. Some of the keys were changed, and we were getting ready to implement the key mapper. Also, there’s a quick control reminder on the beginning of each level, and it also shows up when you switch from keyboard to gamepad. On that note, gamepad support is still experimental and there’ll be a patch very soon that improves the use of xbox and playstation 4 controllers.

The 4th Stage

The STAR of v0.41a! This was our favorite level (up until we started working on the following level of course) because of how varied the objectives are.

New Cockpit

New cockpit was implemented, and it’s possible to use the free-look key when inside the ship.

Lasers!

We’ve changed how the disruptors work. Now, all disruptor weapons are laser based, and piercing rounds are projectile based.

Upgrades

Super cool, right? We worked on new upgrades for the 4th stage. You can pick these up during the game, and they give you different weapons for a certain amount of time (or until its ammo runs out). These upgrades can also replenish your shield, health, or give you an extra life. If you can find out what game inspired us for these upgrades, comment below!

Bug fixes!

Last but not least, our favourite part. Not. Everyone hates bugs. Well, actually, depends on the bug. We love beetles.

The Game

NIGHTSTAR: Rogue Wings will have 9 stages, 4 of which are already available for you to play:

  • Defense on Tardira: City Under Siege: Playing as Commander Eastwood, you lead a group of mercenaries to defend the city of Tardira and earn some hard-to-come-by silver.
  • Rescue of the Forgotten: A Long Lost Friend: the NIGHTSTAR hears of a war prison where an old friend may or may not be kept, and it’s said that he possesses some pretty interesting piece of knowledge about the Absolute Unity.
  • Orbital Blockade: Escape: Time to go. Fight your way out of the planet and into deep space once again!
  • Seach for the Narcissus VI: Pirate Fortress: Led on by your ex-con friend, you take the plunge into a secluded quadrant, an eerie place with plenty of the galaxy’s renegades. Good thing you’re one too. Or are you?
  • Hard Shelled Space: Coming Soon!
